Hybrid cars are extremely popular in the United States.  It is a half gas and half electric car.  The price ranges for new hybrid cars start from $24,595 to under $35,000.  They are great vehicles to save on gas and are environmental friendly.  There was an interesting article titled " 5 Little-Known Perks of Owning a Hybrid Car" written by Kailey Hagan from Ascent.  She mentioned that hybrid cars "get up to 57 miles per gallon combined fuel economy.  That means fewer gas stops for you.  Even skipping one could save you $40 to $50."

Consumers have felt the pain of paying the high gas prices to fuel up their cars. The highest gas prices in the United States is California at $5.29 per gallon with the lowest gas price in Mississipi at $3.09 per gallon.  I feel the pain of the consumers.   It is not wise to purchase a vehicle that burns a lot of gas on the road.  It is forecasted that the gas prices will be rising this summer as more people will be hitting the road for summer vacation and getaways.

What is the second benefit of buying a new hybrid car over an electric vehicle?

Hybrid cars perform better in cold weather over electric vehicles.  It has the capacity to switch to electric when it is sunny and warm while running on gas when the weather is cold and snowy.  The benefit of owning a hybrid car is warming up the car for a minute and driving to your destination while the electric vehicle has to be warmed up for 5-10 minutes.  The only downside of owning a hybrid car is the gas mileage during the winter.  Hybrid cars burns more gas due to the cold weather causing the consumer to pay at the pump to fill up the tank more often.

I would be careful not to drive a hybrid car far distances in the cold due to the pressure and strain that happens to the alternator when it is working twice as hard to keep the battery charged and the car to run smoothly.  This is due to the heated seats, fan and the defroster using up more energy in the hybrid car.  It may be advisable to drive a hybrid car under calm, sunny and warm weather conditions.

What is a third and final benefit of owning a hybrid car?

New hybrid car owners can be proud to say that the cost of maintenance is less frequent than regular cars running on gas only.  Most consumers are unaware that hybrid cars run on "regenerative braking, which allows the hybrid car's braking components to not use the brake pads and discs."  It was in an article written by Green Cars titled "Maintaining a Hybrid Car" written by Laurance Yap.

Oil changes for a hybrid car will require maintenance to be changed every 5,000 to 7,000 miles.  It is interesting to mention that hybrid cars are not high maintenance vehicles.  The maintenance for a hybrid car is not costly due to having two battteries being equipped, with a standard and hybrid battery.  It is a fact that hybrid car batteries lasts beyond 200,000 miles and has a warranty coverage depending on the make and model of the car.  We are definitely living in a new age of technology.
